The Board of control for cricket in India( BCCI) recently appointed Sunil Subramaniam as the new administrative manager of Indian cricket team for a period of one year. Subramanium had retired from competititve cricket in 2001 at the age of 34 and started coaching in 2005. He is famous for teaching Ravichandran Ashwin the tricks of the trade regarding off-spin bowling. He will join the national team before the start of the second Test in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Sunil Subramanium was born in Mumbai in 1967
He represented both TN(1988/89 to 1997/98 ) and Assam(2000/01), taking 285 wickets in 74 first-class matches
During his playing career, Subramaniam also worked for the Indian IT company HCL Technologies
Subramaniam retired from competitive cricket in 2001 after tearing a ligament in his left leg during practice
In 2005, he became the coach of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association Academy
Sunil is a highly-rated coach in Tamil Nadu, and has worked with a lot of top cricketers
He has been the coach of Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin since Ashwin's under-19 days at Tamil Nadu
