Brathwaite named skipper of CPL side St Kitts and Nevis Patriots

Caribbean Premier League is an annual Twenty20 cricket tournament in the Caribbean that was started in 2013. Total six teams participate in the tournament.

West Indies T-20 captain Carlos Brathwaite will be seen leading St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the upcoming Caribbean Premier League that is set to start from September 4 this year. Brathwaite has been with Patriots since the franchise was formed in 2015.  He took over the captainship of Patriots from legendary Chris Gayle who will be seen with Jamaica Tallawahs this season. Brathwaite’s reliability and trust can be judged by his popularity on Indian betting sites. With WI T-20 captain’s name jumped to the top of the team, it will garner some massive interest among the online gaming industry.

Expressing his excitement Brathwaite said the team would follow the same set of plan that it has followed in previous seasons and would play with attacking spirit.

"I think we had a good last couple of years where we challenged really well on the field, we went to the final and then we made it to the playoffs as well," Brathwaite said. "So, this year is about trying to continue that same thought process, that same set of the game plan and try to be as attacking as we could potentially be. Obviously, we had Chris [Gayle] and Evin [Lewis] at the top"

Brathwaite who has been part of Patriots for four successive seasons is the leading run-scorer from the side.

He also added that the Caribbean Premier League gives an opportunity to learn from foreign players different background and culture.

“CPL gives you the chance to perform on a big stage. As a local, it’s kind of different travelling around and there are only four spots available for overseas players and you always have to try to be one of the four as opposed to being one of the seven. So firstly, it gives you the opportunity to play in franchise cricket as one of seven, and then it gives you the opportunity to learn from four or five other guys in the dressing room coming from a different background; different culture; different ways of training; different ways of living life."

The 34-match season of Caribbean Premier League 2019 will start on 4 September and will last up to  12 October 2019.  The 2019 Caribbean Premier League will be the seventh season of the Caribbean Premier League, the domestic Twenty20cricket league in the West Indies. Matches will be played in six countries – Trinidad and Tobago, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Guyana, Barbados, Jamaica and Saint Lucia.
