Watch: Jack Wilshere shown red after brawl at the Emirates
Before the sending off, Wilshere was having a fine game, controlling the midfield and proving an assist for Arsenal’s third goal, scored by Nketiah, in their 4-3 win.
Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere is returning from a fractured leg which he suffered in April while on loan at Bournemouth. The 25-year-old English midfielder has not featured for the Gunners in over a year and his hope of reviving his Arsenal career hit trouble on Monday night when he was sent off in only his second game back with the club.
The temperamental midfielder saw red after he got into rifts with two Manchester City youngsters during an Under 23 match at the Emirates Stadium. Wilshere took exception to Academy player Matthew Smith’s aggressive late challenge in the centre of the field.
Arsenal’s no.10 fell but immediately got up and pushed the City player in the chest, who rolled on the ground covering his face.
The England international was then proved by City defender Tyreke Wilson, who ran from defensive line to confront Wilshere and referee Samuel Allison dismissed both players.

Before the sending off, Wilshere was having a fine game, controlling the midfield and proving an assist for Arsenal’s third goal, scored by Nketiah, in their 4-3 win.
After the match Wilshere played down the incident, posting: ‘Well, that was eventful. Felt good to be back on the pitch at the Emirates even though it ended earlier than I thought. My passion and my hunger is back, buzzing for more games.'
The suspension will not carry into the first team so he will be available for Arsenal’s next game against Liverpool.
