In an age-restricted tournament, teams are required to field players under the guidelines of the tournament, similarly in the upcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup players born in this century is allowed to feature, but there have been numerous cases where the team tried to sneak players beyond the age limit and most recently the defending champions Nigeria.

Last year, 26 of Nigeria top junior players reportedly failed an age test, with just two players from 2015 U-17 World Cup winning team available. 

Age violation has become a major issue and has affected the charm of the tournament which has helped launch the careers of Neymar, Ronaldinho, Toni Kross, Iniesta to name a few. 

However, the officials are taking no chance and will conduct tests where players’ wrists will be scanned by MRI to check they weren’t born before January 1, 2000. MRI scans are supposed to be 99 percent accurate as they provide information whether he or she has stopped growing which usually happens after 17.

If any such cases arise it will surely have a negative effect on the tournament which is just days away from kick-off. Hopefully, the game will be played in fair and just manner and fans can witness the rise of the next big thing.
