The second week of the premier league did not disappoint, it had its share of upset and some cracking game and silly red cards.
United On a Roll
Manchester United clicking on all cylinders, they are looking like a well-oiled machine early on in the season. In the match against Welsh side Swansea, they were never troubled not because Swansea was poor rather due to United’s brilliant overall display. They were sharp, moved the quickly, showcasing their offensive and defensive qualities and ending the match scoring 4 goals, that makes 8 goals in two matches, none conceded.
Lukaku now has scored four goals in three games for United, while Pogba and Martial have each scored two goals in two games and Mkhitaryan has four assists.
Jese dream debut, Wenger woes return
It’s only the second game of the season and Arsenal are already looking like a side that may struggle to finish four yet again. Stoke City handed them their first defeat of the season with a strong defensive display while Arsenal’s defensive fragility was on full display. The new boy Jese announced his arrival in tremendous fashion, scoring the winner in the 47th minute.
Arsenal had time to find the winner but Stoke’s well-organized defence led by Shawcross kept the Gunners plethora of attacking option off the score sheet. They had 77.3 percent possession but failed to make anything of that.
Mane To The Rescue
The absence of Coutinho has been the making the headline but his teammates are working to get the right result, after opening week draw against Watford, Mane’s late goal against Crystal Palace earned Liverpool their first Premier League win of the season. Jurgen Klopp side was heading for a frustrating back-to-back draw after wasting a string of chances when Mane prodded past Hennessey for his second league goal of the campaign.
This was far from vintage Liverpool which is accustomed to watching Week-in week-out as they for once struggled in front of goal despite firing 16 shots, half of them on target and to all our surprise they didn’t concede.
Spurs Need a Wembley Win
Tottenham once again failed to win at their temporary home, losing to holders Chelsea 2-1 in a fascinating tie on Sunday night. Spurs have lost eight and won just one of the last 10 games they have played at the national stadium, a record that has created talk of a ‘Wembley curse’. Their loss to Chelsea, who prevailed through Marcos Alonso’s 88th-minute winner, brought an end to a run of 14 successive home league wins.
