Chennai Super Kings contribute INR 3 Lakhs for Jacob Martin's treatment

Jacob Martin, who met with a grievous accident in December last year, has found support from the entire cricketing fraternity. His wife Khyati, who was struggling to manage the finances until a few days back, seemed to be relieved with the help that the community is offering. IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is the most recent of all to offer help to the former cricketer. As per the CSK press release, the Chennai-based franchise contributed INR 3 Lakhs towards the treatment costs for Jacob Martin. The Baroda cricketer met with the accident on Old Padra Road on December 27. Apparently, his two-wheeler slipped off a speed breaker when he went out to buy ice cream for his family. He broke his ribs and fractured a leg and a hand before he was rushed to a private hospital back then. After sustaining lung and liver injuries, he is on life support currently. We hope and pray for his speedy recovery "Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited transferred a sum of Rs three lakh towards the medical expenses of Martin," Mr KS Viswanathan, CEO, Chennai Super Kings, said. Martin made his ODI debut in 1999 under Sourav Ganguly. The 46-year-old played 10 ODIs in total and scored 158 runs at an average of 23. "We got in touch with Baroda Cricket Association officials to understand his financial situation. We hope and pray for his speedy recovery," Mr Viswanathan added. Apart from the Chennai Super Kings, various other cricketers have also come forward to offer help. Krunal Pandya gave a blank cheque to the former cricketer to support the treatment.
