The worst and the best! Two contrasting performances in two matches, against two different opponents at two different venues. Kolkata Knight Riders found themselves in a soup against Mumbai Indians at Eden Gardens, but they made a fantastic comeback in VIVO IPL 2018. Our Knights showed no signs of pressure in a run-fest at Indore against Kings XI Punjab and ended the week 5 of IPL 2018 on a high note.

Here are a few highlights for KKR from week 5 of IPL 2018:

A bad day vs Mumbai Indians at Eden Gardens

We needed a win. We also had a task to keep up the net run-rate too. But nothing worked for our Knights that night, not even the advantage of playing at home. Our bowlers (except Narine) were swooped all over the stadium. Being good chasers didn’t work as KKR were left packing at 108 and losing by a big margin of 102 runs.

Turnaround in IndoreAfter getting thrashed at the hands of Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders were under pressure to stay in hunt for the playoffs. They needed an inspiration! A fresh start! We were in Indore and showed our class with the bat and probably put up the best batting performance of the season. In the end, we won the match convincingly by 31 runs.

Sunil Narine - The silent killer

You don’t see him talking much. He hardly smiles. At Indore against KXIP, the Trinidadian, once again did the same old! He didn’t smile whatsoever. He just ROARED! He grounded every single KXIP’s bowler ONE BY ONE. Known for striking JUST during the powerplays, our Knight took a step further. He went on to score his highest score in IPL (75 runs off 36 balls) and gave a dream start to which the others batsmen followed.

DK - Undoubtedly the best in the business

Sunil Narine gave us a flying start to the visitors. But his dismissal was followed by Robin Uthappa’s wicket in the same over. From 123/1 in 11 overs, we were at 130/3 in 12 overs. Our skipper, Dinesh Karthik didn’t let go off the momentum. He once again proved why he’s one of the best captains in this IPL. He was dismissed in the 20th over, but played his part, as we posted a massive 245 runs on board.

Prasidh Krishna - Showing great promiseWhile the bowlers from both KKR and KXIP had one day to forget, our Knight, Prasidh Krishna had one outing that he’ll remember for a very long time. He ended the match with figures of 2/31 in 4 overs, thus becoming the most economical bowler from the two teams.
