KXIP vs KKR: Knights rise to rewrite the record books

459 runs were scored in 40 overs - The second highest aggregate total in an IPL match ever - when KKR met KXIP in Indore.Despite scoring our highest total ever in IPL, no batsmen from KKR reached three figures.

When things got tricky for Kolkata Knight Riders in the VIVO IPL 2018, skipper DK and his Knights brought out one of the most exhilarating performances of the season. 459 runs were scored in 40 overs - The second highest aggregate total in an IPL match ever - when KKR met KXIP in Indore. In the process, both teams toppled many individual and teams records along the way.

Let’s take a look at some of those numbers from the battle of the Kings (from the North) and the Knights (from the East) at Indore’s Holkar stadium.

Narine’s best

The Trinidadian had a special place for RCB in his heart. Well, at least till yesterday, it was RCB who used to have nightmares while bowling to Sunil Narine. He saved his best when the team needed him the most. Against KXIP, he scored his highest individual score (75 runs off 36 balls) in IPL and set a much-needed platform for other batsmen to follow.

Holkar stadium - a batting paradiseYou can say small boundaries, belter of a wicket, and what not! But KKR registered the highest score ever made at this venue, bettering Mumbai Indians’ 199/2 in 15.3 overs in 2017.

KKR’s highest ever total

The non-stop onslaught by our batsmen against KXIP helped us to post our highest score (245/6) in IPL. Our previous best was 222/3 against RCB which came way back in the opening match of IPL 2008. We bet there was no better time to turn on the beast mode! Yesterday’s total against KXIP was also the 4th highest total by any team in the history of IPL.

KXIP fought fire with fireA day to forget for bowlers, but batsmen from both teams made the most of the playing conditions. It’s the 5th instance when both sides have scores over 100 runs in 10 overs. Second such instance for KKR, but for the first time our Knights ended up on the winning side.

No Century, No ProblemPersonal records don’t matter when your team comes out on top after the match gets over. Despite scoring our highest total ever in IPL, no batsmen from KKR reached three figures. This is the highest ever total without a century. Something that wouldn’t concern our Knights after the crucial win.
