5 MI stars in Quadrangular series - Mumbai Indians

Surya, Krunal, Mayank and Siddhesh will team up for India ‘A’, captained by Shreyas Iyer.Krunal Pandya and Ishan Kishan were a part of a victorious India ‘A’ side which beat Windies ‘A’ and England Lions in the recently concluded tri-series.

Five of our players - Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Krunal Pandya, Mayank Markande and Siddhesh Lad are set to represent India ‘A’ and India ‘B’ in a quadrangular series involving Australia ‘A’ and South Africa ‘A’ starting August 17 as per the announcement made by the All India Selection Committee on Monday.

Ishan Kishan will first lead the Board President’s XI against a touring South Africa 'A' team on July 30 before joining India ‘B’, which will be led by Manish Pandey. Surya, Krunal, Mayank and Siddhesh will team up for India ‘A’, captained by Shreyas Iyer.

Krunal Pandya and Ishan Kishan were a part of a victorious India ‘A’ side which beat Windies ‘A’ and England Lions in the recently concluded tri-series.

The India 'A' team also sees Suryakumar Yadav being rewarded for a good run with the bat in the 2018 VIVO IPL. Surya was asked to open the batting for Mumbai Indians and the local boy responded in style, scoring runs consistently at the top. The prolific right-hander amassed 512 runs and ended up being our top-scorer.

The 27-year-old has represented India U-23s in the past but this will be an opportunity for him to score runs and be on the selectors’ radar for further call-ups.

Mayank Markande, who picked 15 wickets in his maiden VIVO IPL stint, is the only leg-spinner in the 15-man India ‘A’ team. With Amit Mishra and Piyush Chawla falling out of favour, this will be a chance for the likes of Markande and former MI spinner Shreyas Gopal to impress with their wrist spin.

Siddhesh Lad, who will also play for the Board President’s XI, finds himself in the India ‘A’ team too.
