IPL 2020: Players like Virat Kohli feeds off energy of fans

The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is being currently played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), amidst the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, under a bio-secure bubble. Since the entire tournament is being played without fans, as a precautionary measure amid the current health crisis, it`s been an incredibly different campaign for both fans and players. Having said that, Former New Zealand all-rounder Scott Styris, While talking about `The Fan Week` initiative by Star Sports, said that players like Virat Kohli tend to feed off the energy of the fans. "It`s incredibly different for fans and players this season. For instance, players like Virat Kohli or the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team feed off the energy of fans who dedicatedly visit the stadium to cheer their favorite team and players," he said. Fans have been kept away from the stadiums with an eye on their health and safety but before the start of IPL 2020, players too spoke about how they would miss the constant cheers from vociferous fans. Though the tournament has crossed its halfway mark, one just cannot tell that this year`s tournament is indeed being played without fans inside the stadium. The excitement has been the same and a lot of credit goes to the diligent planning and execution by host broadcasters Star India. "It is a massive compliment for the entire team that has worked practically day and night to put this experience together. Both audio and visual, there`s a guy who is our primary audio producer and he had to sit through 100 matches, over a two-month period, to basically put together an archive of audio references for different situations in a game and how the crowd responds," he added.
