CSK can bounce back from the eighth position - Irfan Pathan backs Dhoni & Co.

Former India all-rounder, Irfan Pathan, has thrown his support behind MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings, who have been facing backlash on social media for their disappointing performance in the ongoing edition of Indian Premier League. Continuing their woeful run in the tournament, CSK once again went down against Steve Smith-led Rajasthan Royals at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium. Batting first, the three-time champions managed only 125 runs. It was England batsman Jos Buttler who played a match-winning knock of 70 runs in 48 balls and guided the Royals to a seven-wicket triumph in a low-key chase. Following their humiliating defeat against RR, CSK are now sitting at the bottom of the eight-team table with only 6 points in 10 games. However, Pathan still feels that the Chennai-based franchise can bounce back and one should not rule them out of the playoff-race so early. Speaking on Star Sports, the 35-year-old said, “If anyone can bounce back from the seventh or eighth position, that is CSK. They know very well how to handle the players, they make the players very comfortable.” “This franchise knows how to run cricket for 21-22 years. In the Chennai league as well, they run the team the same way. You go out and perform, we will back you up,” said Irfan, who was the part of CSK camp in 2015.
