The remaining 31 matches of IPL 2021 will be split into 10 double headers, 7 single headers and 4 playoffs, which will be fit into the 21-day window the BCCI hopes to create before the ICC T20 World Cup; however, sources have said that it will be difficult to bring back foreign players.

A senior official of the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) told PTI that three weeks would be sufficient to complete the remaining 31 matches of the league's season. The tournament will be held in a win-win situation for all primary stakeholders like BCCI, Franchisee and broadcasters. IPL 2021 was suspended on May 4 after several players were found infected with Covid-19.

The official told PTI on the condition of anonymity that the BCCI has spoken with all stakeholders and that the tournament may resume from September 18 to 20. September 18 is Saturday and September 19 is Sunday, chances are you will want to start the league again on the weekend. He said that similarly finals could be held on October 9 or 10 as it is the weekend.

A franchise official confirmed that BCCI's letter in this regard has been received. The team official said that the cricket board has asked us to be ready for the tournament. We have been given time between 15 to 20 September.
