He once again stressed that the facilities need to be the best if the country is to excel in sports. He further claimed the philosophy has to be – “athletes first” in a shift from the previous babu culture prevalent in sports bodies.
In the recent massive cabinet overhaul, India got its first sportsperson as a head of the Sports Ministry. The appointment of Olympic silver medalist Rajyavardhan Rathore as the Sports Minister created a sense of hope for the development of sports in India and the move was praised all around the sporting fraternity.
Rajyavardhan Rathore assumed office on Monday and within three days he showed why he is the right man for the job as the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports made a surprise inspection at the Sports Authority of India offices at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the capital.
