Sindhu said she was disappointed after the semi-final loss, but coach Park Tae-sang inspired her that everything is not over yet. Sindhu had lost 18-21, 12-21 to Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei in the semi-finals. She said, "I was disappointed after the loss in the semi-finals as I could not challenge for the gold medal. Coach Park then explained to me that focus on the next match. It is better to bring glory to the country by winning a bronze medal than returning home empty-handed after finishing fourth.
