Saudi Arabia to allow women enter sports stadiums
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's Vision 2030 reform programme aims to open up Saudis' cloistered lifestyles, shaped in part by a strict, conservative version of Sunni Islam that limits the role of women and diversify the economy away from oil.
In a crucial move toward feminism, Saudi Arabia government has decided to allow women to attend sports events in three selected stadiums from early next year. The three selected stadiums are in- Jeddah, Dammam and Riyadh.
The move of General Sports Authority is a part of series of initiatives taken by Saudi government toward gender equality in the Gulf country.
Meanwhile, last month Saudi Arabia had announced that women would be allowed to drive cars.
