Earlier highest opening partnership record in World Cup against Pakistan was with Sachin Tendulkar and Navjot Sidhu who got 90 runs partnership for the first wicket in 1996 World Cup match against Pakistan in Bengaluru. India posted a total of 287 and won the match by 37 runs.
