Silver for PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal gets Bronze at the World Championships
PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal made the country proud once again as they bagged Silver and Bronze medals respectively at the World Badminton Championships 2017. Both of them lost to Nozomi Okuhara, who became the first Japanese women's singles champion at the World Championships as she defeated Nehwal in the semi-final and then Sindhu in the final.
On Sunday, PV Sindhu lost the final of World Badminton Championships 2017 at Glasgow, Scotland in a thrilling contest and had to Settle for silver , going down 19-21, 22-20, 20-22 to Nozomi Okuhara of Japan. Nozomi became the first ever Japanese women’s singles champion at the World Championships.

“ I am upset. In the third game, it was anybody's game at 20-all. Everybody aims for gold and I was there very close but that last moment changed everything. She is not an easy player,” said PV Sindhu.
“ I am extremely delighted to become World Champion and I thank everyone for supporting me. It was a very tough match and I am very tired,”said Nozomi Okuhara.

Saina Nehwal who went into the Championships as the underdog, also bagged the Bronze medal. She was also defeated by Nozomi Okuhara in the semi-final, nonetheless she has comeback strong from injury and proved that she is still is a force to reckon with. Before the event, everyone had written Nehwal off and were not expecting a medal from her.
