Messi opened Barca’s account in the 54th minute as he reacted quickly to gather Jordi Alba’s cross and fired a left-footed shot which flicked off Alexis Ruano and beat Pacheco at his near post. Earlier, Messi missed a penalty in the first half as his spot kick was superbly saved by Fernando Pacheco after Gerard Pique had been pulled down in the penalty area.

Barcelona were without the services of newly signed Ousmane Dembele as well as the injured Luis Suarez. But Messi did not let their absence be felt and even completed another incredible milestone of 350 goals.
