Free passes will be provided to students of different schools and colleges of the state to watch the FIFA U-17 World Cup matches scheduled at the Salt Lake Stadium from October 8. The Salt Lake stadium in Kolkata will host 10 matches, including the all important final.
The West Bengal Government has decided to provide free tickets to around 5,000 school and college students in a move to attract more attention and bring larger crowd to one of the biggest football event ever held in India. The Salt Lake stadium in Kolkata will host 10 matches, including the all important final.
A senior official in the West Bengal education department said, "Free passes will be provided to students of different schools and colleges of the state to watch the FIFA U-17 World Cup matches scheduled at the Salt Lake Stadium from October 8. Each day, around 5,000 students will be given the free passes to watch the match,"
However there are a few key points to be noted as far as free passes are concerned-
1. These free passes will only be provided to students who play soccer or are involved in different sporting activities
2. Out of these free passes, 2,000 would be given to students of schools and colleges, while 500 passes would be given to students of Madrasas and polytechnic colleges.
3. Separate seating arrangements have been put in place for the students at the Salt Lake Stadium
Around 70 AC and non-AC buses are likely to be available to transport students to and from the Salt Lake stadium, while food and accommodation arrangements would also need to be taken care of for students coming from far off places.
