FIFA U-17 WC: Jeakson creates history but Colombia victorious
Colombia took advantage of India’s inexperience and lap of concentration, closing the game 2-1 courtesy of Juan Penaloza brace to secure their first win of the tournament.
India was defeated 1-2 by Colombia in the second group A match of the FIFA U-17 World Cup at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The match was intense, the host never looked out of place against a side that are known for their footballing traits, the Blue Tigers were organised, worked together and even managed to score their first ever FIFA World Cup goal when Jeakson Singh headed home a corner in front of packed house.
However, Colombia took advantage of India’s inexperience and lap of concentration, closing the game 2-1 courtesy of Juan Penaloza brace to secure their first win of the tournament. India will now face two-time champion Ghana in their third and final group stage game on Oct 12, where they will have to score at least four without reply to stay in contention for a third-place finish in the group.

What an inspiring fight! Never thought a team of 17 year olds would teach me so much. Jeakson with his name in the history books! #INDvCOL
