England defeated Spain 5-2 at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata to lift their maiden FIFA U-17 WC.

Here are some of the numbers from the 2017 edition of the tournament:

·         England become the eight team to win the U-17 WC in their maiden final

Nigeria is the most successful nation in the tournament's history, with five titles and three runners-up. Brazil is the second-most successful with three titles and two runners-up. Ghana and Mexico have won the tournament twice.

·         A new goalscoring record was set at the Indian edition

A new record was set at the 2017 edition of the U-17 World Cup with 183 goals, the previous record was 172 achieved in UAE, 2015.

·         This edition also has the highest goal average of 3.40 per match

The goals per game of 3.52 have been bettered only twice before, with Egypt (1997) and Finland (2003) both registering 3.66 goals per game with 117 goals from 32 matches.

·         England's Rhian Brewster became the fourth player to register two hat-tricks

The Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster became the fourth player to register two hat-tricks at a single U-17 World Cup, joining Germany's Marcel Witeczek, Florent Sinama Pongolle of France and Cote d’Ivoire’s Souleymane Coulibaly.

·         Final between England and Spain was the first all-European final in U-17 WC

The final at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata was the first time two European team faced-off each other in the finale. Apart from that, same confederation final happened only twice before, with Ghana meeting Nigeria in 1993 final, and the 2015 final featuring Nigeria and Mali.

·         The 2017 edition is now the most attended tournament

India, as host put together a very successful tournament, it managed to shatter most attended record with 1,347,143, the earlier record attendance of 1,230,976 set in the first edition of the tournament in China in 1985.
