Indian Hockey team gives the country a special gift on Independence Day
On the special occasion of the 71st Independence Day, Indian Hockey players were fighting it out against world number 4 side, Netherlands with the series on the line. Gurjant Singh and Mandeep Singh were unstoppable as they took India to victory and made all the Indians proud. India eventually won the series 2-0. India will now look to end the tour on a high by defeating Austria on Wednesday.
Indian Hockey team is currently playing hockey with some of the best teams in Europe. This is a very strong comeback by the Indian side losing the series against Belgium earlier on in this European Tour. The Indian team consists of a lot youngsters, but that also gives them the opportunity to prove themselves on the big stage.

"I think we played well in all departments to win against the Netherlands. They are a very experienced team with more than eight players with over 100 International Caps. So, to beat them we had to come up with something special.I am very happy with the way the entire team performed as one unit especially the players making their debut. They showed no sign of nervousness and played with a lot of confidence," said an elated skipper Manpreet after the series win.
India will now face Austria in the final match on Wednesday and would look to end the tour on a high.
