RCB will play their first match on the opening day of the season against the CSK. Former South Africa captain and cricketer AB de Villiers suffered a back injury while playing in a T20 league recently and his Indian admirers are in for a scare since the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is just over two weeks away. Will the batsman be in a perfect condition when he dons the jersey for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL under the captaincy of Virat Kohli? De Villiers, having retired from the international arena, will be available for the whole season this time around for the RCB. He was also in good touch after setting the stage on fire in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). But this injury just before the IPL must have left the franchise stunned and worried understandably. However, there is a good news for the fans as ABD has cleared that the doctors have suggested him a rest of two weeks. This means with only less than three weeks to go, the superstar player might just get fit in time for the IPL this season. "I saw my doctor who has advised complete rest for two weeks," AB de Villiers was quoted as saying by the Indian Express. De Villiers needs 47 runs to complete 4k runs in IPL AB de Villiers will now be looking forward to the IPL which he has been playing since its inception in 2008 and is one of most prolific scorers in the tournament with 3,953 runs in 141 games. Last year, he scored 480 runs in 12 matches at a staggering strike rate of 174-plus and the RCB, who are yet to win their first title, would be looking up to him in the fresh bid. RCB will be playing the first match of IPL 2019 against defending champions Chennai Super Kings at the Chepauk on March 23.
