Hypocrisy at its best: Aakash Chopra points out gender discrimination in world cricket

The COVID-19 pandemic has badly affected the sporting calendar, including cricket, with most of the games being either postponed or being played behind closed doors (with no in-person attendance inside the stadium). However, England started hosting nations (Pakistan and Australia) for the bilateral series and that is how men’s international cricket resumed. But, women’s international cricket was yet to kick-off, and the WODI series between India and Australia was on cards. However, Cricket Australia (CA), in a surprising turn of events, confirmed that the WODI series between India and Australia has been called off in view of COVID-19 risk. In the same light, former Indian batsman Aakash Chopra has voiced his opinion on the same matter. The cricketer-turned-commentator reckons that it is clear gender discrimination and inequality towards women as their male counterparts are already participating in international cricket. Indian men`s team is currently in Australia for a full-fledged tour that kicked off right after IPL 2020. In fact, the Test series is being fiercely contested, and on the other hand, women’s series are suffering because of the pandemic. "How does one justify this? Men’s cricket is happening right now but women can’t play. Gender equality, anyone?," Chopra captioned an image on Twitter. How does one justify this?
