
IWF, NADA target Mirabai, conduct two test in 24 hours
An official, who is attached to the weightlifting camp in Patiala, alleged that Nada has been targeting Mirabai on the instructions of IWF since the discipline has a history of dope cheats.
The newly crowned world champion, Mirabai Chanu is being targeted by International Weightlifting Federation and National Doping Agency as the champ has been subjected to dope testing four times within a span of one month.
The Manipuri lifter recently won a gold medal in California in the 48kg category, ending India’s 22-year drought has been subjected to back-to-back doping testing ever since she returned from California.
Indian Weightlifting Federation secretary Sahdev Yadav also revealed a shocking information, stating that Mirabai has been tested at least 30 times by IWF and Nada and that she has never failed the doping test but still agency continue to target her.
"In the last three years, Mirabai has been dope tested at least 30 times by the IWF and Nada under the suspicion that she is taking performance-enhancing drugs. We all know the truth that she has never failed a dope test. I can't understand why she has been singled out by the IWF and Nada?" Yadav added.
