Switzerland reached their first-ever quarter-final in a major tournament after 67 years and they did it in style by defeating World Champions France in a super thriller match that ended in a penalty shoot-out. The game ended in a 3-3 draw after 90 minutes of play and the score remain unchanged even after 30 minutes of extra time.
Switzerland started the shootout and after four penalties, the score of both the teams was 4-4. Admir Mehmedi, who came to take the last penalty for his team, made the score 5-4. Kylian Mbappe stepped in to take the fifth penalty for France and failed to convert it into a goal.

The first goal of the match came from Switzerland's Haris Seferovi
c in the 15th minute of the game and the first half ended in a 1-0 lead for the Swiss. The match turned upside down in the second half of the game as a total of 5 goals were scored in the second half.
Real Madrid's star striker Karim Benzema scored 2 goals in 2 minutes in the 57th and 59th minutes as the second half resumed. France came from one goal behind and took the lead of 2-1. Paul Pogba scored the third goal in the 75th minute and France went 3-1 ahead. Though Switzerland's comeback was looking impossible; the party had just started for them.
Seferovic scored his second goal in the 81st minute of the match to cut France's lead. Switzerland's Gavranovic converted captain Granit Xhaka's assist into the third goal moments before the final whistle of the game.
