The injury is understood to have aggravated during the recently concluded World Test Championship final against New Zealand in Southampton. India lost this match by eight wickets.
Gill will certainly miss the opening three matches of the five-match Test series against England in Nottingham on August 4, according to a BCCI source.
He said, “If there was a shin fracture, it could take more than three months to heal, but recovery from a shin stress fracture injury usually takes eight to 10 weeks. "

Although the Indian team already has reserve batsmen for the opening spot in the form of Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul. Apart from this, Abhimanyu Easwaran has also gone to England as a reserve player with the team.
