Three-time Euro winners Spain will lock horns with Switzerland in the quarter-finals of the Euro-2020 Cup at the Kretovysky Stadium in Saint Petersburg, on Friday at 9:30 pm IST.

Spain reached the quarters by beating Croatia 5-3 in an eight-goal thriller last Monday in Copenhagen. Spain clinched the match by 5 -3, thanks to Alvaro Morata and Mikel Oyarzabal's extra-time goals.

Spain scored a total of 5 goals in the match, becoming the first team in the European Championship to score 5 goals in two consecutive matches of the tournament.

Switzerland reached their first-ever quarter-final in a major tournament after 67 years and they did it in style by defeating World Champions France in a super thriller match that ended in a penalty shoot-out. 

Switzerland's Yann Somar blocked a spot-kick from French sensation Kylian Mbappe to give his team a 5-4 victory in the penalty shootout.

The two teams have met 22 times so far, Spain have a big advantage with 16 wins over Switzerland's one win.

Switzerland surprised the Spanish team by defeating them 1-0 in the 2010 world cup.
