England all-rounder Ben Stokes was arrested after a brawl outside a nightclub that left a 27-year-old man in hospital with facial injuries. Stokes spent a night in the cell but was later released without charges but police are still investigating the matter and the all-rounder have been ruled out of the fourth one-day international against West Indies at The Oval.

There are reports that the English board is very disappointed with Stokes as he is the vice-captain of the team and there is every chance England’s director will now strip Stokes of vice-captaincy before the squad leave for Australia for all-important Ashes series.

Along with Stokes, opening batsman Alex Hales, who was with Stokes during the incident, will also miss fourth ODI after returning to help police with their enquiries. However, it is understood that he was not directly involved when the brawl took place.

Detail about the incident still remains sketchy but one report suggested that the man who ended up in the hospital had a verbal altercation with Stokes which ended in a brawl.

This is not the first time Stokes has been involved in such incident, he has a history of disciplinary issues and has thrust the port into the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.

He was once again involved in indecent behaviour, this time he fractured his hand punching a locker in the dressing room after he was dismissed for a golden duck against the West Indies. The injury forced him to miss the Twenty20 World Cup.

January 2015

Receives a verbal warning for staying out after hours following a team function in Bloemfontein, 24 hours after arriving at a one-day specialist on England Lions' tour of South Africa.

August 2017

Returns to team hotel from a night out in Manchester at 3 am, hours before the second day of the fourth Test against South Africa. Stokes was also penalized for swearing against the West Indies, leaving him one demerit point away from missing an Ashes Test following charges against Bangladesh and India in 2016.
