ICC World Cup: Can rain spoil India vs Pakistan show ?

India and Pakistan are scheduled to face each other in the first clash of this season on Sunday at Old Trafford Cricket Ground. There is nothing like India vs Pakistan cricket match and that too in the World Cup tournament, no one knows it better than the people from the two sides.


ICC World Cup 2019 has so far witnessed almost 18 matches between the 10 participating teams. The tournament has so far showcased some interesting fights between the teams while the mother of all clashes is yet to take place on Sunday. India and Pakistan are scheduled to face each other in the first clash of this season on Sunday at Old Trafford Cricket Ground. There is nothing like India vs Pakistan cricket match and that too in the World Cup tournament, no one knows it better than the people from the two sides.

 Cricket fans from both the sides are eagerly waiting like thirsty crows for this super clash, but the weather remains the huge concern for both the sides.

So far three matches of the tournament have been called off due to poor weather conditions and uncertainty hovers over India-Pakistan game.

Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka was the first game affected by rain on June 4. Then 11th encounter between Pakistan & Sri Lanka was called off due to rain. On June 10 after South Africa began its inning against West Indies and the match was called off after 8 overs due to poor weather conditions. The same continued in the last match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and the match was called off without being bowled a single ball due to continuous downpour in Bristol.

Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka (Game reduced to 41-overs-a-side due to rain, Sri Lanka won by 34 runs)

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka (Match called off without a ball being bowled)

South Africa vs West Indies ( Match abandoned due to rain)

Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka (Match abandoned due to rain without a ball being called-off)

According to the Met department of UK, there could be sunny intervals changing to light showers by late morning in Manchester this Sunday when India and Pakistan take each other on. BBC weather forecast also predicts sun and clouds to come and go but it stops short of predicting rain. Private weather monitoring agency Accuweather also predicts scattered clouds over Manchester this Sunday. Overall the weather condition at Old Trafford Cricket Ground is not completely fine, rains could disappoint millions of fans who are praying for the tournament to take place.
