IPL2020: Rohit Sharma becomes gets appreciation from Jasprit Bumrah and teammates
MI’s head coach Mahela Jayawardene calls Rohit a “very instinctive leader”. Former Indian speed bowler Zaheer Khan describes Rohit as a “thinking leader”.
Indian pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah mentions about the freedom that he gets when he plays under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy for the team of Mumbai Indians. He says that this has been a huge confidence booster in his cricket career.
Bumrah is playing for Mumbai Indians at the time which has been a significant part of IPL and has also won four titles under Rohit Sharma’s leadership.
“For me, he (Rohit) has always given me the freedom, he has always told me to express yourself (myself), be whatever you want, be it any situation, take ownership of your own bowling, so that gives me a lot of confidence and responsibility that I’m responsible for whatever I’m doing.” Says Jasprit Bumrah.
“So that’s a big thing for a captain because then he gives a bowler so much confidence. He trusts you so much and he trusts the decisions that you will take and that’s a very positive sign.”
However, it's not just Jasprit that appreciates Rohit and his skills. Rohit has also received praise from other fellow teammates and even the coaching staff of Mumbai Indians.
“he is always open to take suggestions on the ground. I have seen him a lot of times when there is a crucial situation, or when he is put under pressure, that time he is very calm, cool, and composed. He takes tough decisions during that time.” Mumbai Indians batsman Suryakumar Yadav sain in a video that was posted on team’s twitter account.
