Brazilian legend Roberto Carlos sentenced to jail
Carlos, who was capped 125 times for Brazil's national team, currently lives in Spain and works as an ambassador for Real Madrid.
Brazil and Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos has been sentenced to jail for failing to pay child support. According to reports, the 44-year-old full back owes his ex-partner Barbara 20,000 dollar, who has two children of Carlos.
The World Cup winner has claimed financial problems to justify the delay of payment to his ex-wife and proposed to make the payment in instalments which was rejected by the family.
However, the Samba legend’s lawyer Fernando Pittner stated that the matter would be resolved without Carlos serving time. The case is being processed under summary secrecy in the family court of the Itaperuna Forum.
