DELHI DAREDEVILS

Delhi Daredevils (DD) is a franchise cricket team representing the city of Delhi in the VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL). Established in 2008 as one of the eight founding teams of the IPL, the Delhi franchise is owned by the GMR Group and JSW Group. Along with the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, Delhi has a second home stadium at Raipur where it hosted two IPL matches in 2013 on the invitation of the Government of Chhattisgarh.

The team has participated in all the ten editions of the IPL so far and has made it to the semi-finals in 2008 and 2009, topping the table in the latter edition. The 2012 season was the most successful season for the team, as it reached the playoffs of the IPL and the semi-finals of the Champions League Twenty20. For the 2018 VIVO IPL season, DD has brought on board Australian legend Ricky Ponting as their head coach and two-time IPL winner Gautam Gambhir as their captain.

Mission

Highlighting the pride and uniqueness of Delhi with an ever growing connect with fans is what underlines the club’s ambitions.

Vision

Since its birth in 2008 as one of the eight teams of the IPL, DD has moved onwards and upwards growing with a clear vision in mind. The aim of the brand is to bring the excitement and exuberance of Delhi to the fans. Add to that being honest, imaginative and proud, and you have the values that define the club.

Objectives

Providing promising youngsters with opportunities to prove their mettle at the grassroot level as well as scouting for potential talent in the city has been one of DD’s key social objectives.

Initiatives

In 2012, a wonderful initiative called “Daredevils School Cup” was launched. The boys who participated in this tournament were selected for a special camp and were given a chance to bowl in the nets to their heroes, the Delhi Daredevils players. Last year, GMR Group organised the “Daredevils School Cup 2017“, its sixth edition. The tournament featured 40 schools from Delhi NCR playing 51 matches in a league plus knock-out format.
