The dates are yet to be announced but BCCI has started its preparations, Board President Sourav Ganguly and Secretary Jay Shah are in Dubai. However, according to a sports portal, news of some major changes is now coming to the fore in the schedule of IPL 2021, while BCCI can also take a big decision regarding the venue of the tournament.

The board is planning to organize 31 matches in a window of 25 days. According to the news, BCCI is making a new schedule to fit 8 double headers in a window of 25 days. The board can start the second phase of the tournament between September 17 and 19 and announce it at the end of June.

A BCCI source said that the changes in the schedule are being made for two reasons. If the PL 14 wouldn't have postponed due to Covid-19, then only 6 double headers were left but now the board has a smaller window and there is also a challenge to complete the league before the T20 World Cup. That's why the board is planning 8 to 10 double headers.

Like last year, IPL will be played in three cities of UAE in Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The BCCI is planning to host the finals of the league matches, including the knockouts, at only one venue. Dubai can be the first choice, as most of the franchisees have already booked hotels.
