The first batch of Indian players will leave for the Tokyo Olympics on July 17. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet the players in a virtual meeting on July 13 before their departure.
This mega battle of sports is starting from 23rd July and will end on 8th August. A team of 126 athletes is ready to make India proud all over the world, which will fly to Tokyo, the capital of Japan on July 17.
PM Modi tweeted, "Reviewed preparations for facilitation of India’s contingent at Tokyo Olympics 2022. Discussed the logistical details, their vaccination status, the multi-disciplinary support being given".
He said, "On behalf of 130 crore Indians, I would be interacting with the Olympics bound athletes on 13th July to wish them luck. Let us all #Cheer4India."

Earlier, the government's public participation platform 'MyGov India' gave information about the Prime Minister's interaction with the players by tweeting.
Six-time world champion boxer Mary Kom and men's hockey team captain Manpreet Singh will be India's flag bearers at the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics. IOA gave this information on Monday. The opening ceremony of the Olympics will be held on 23 July and end on August 8. Meanwhile, Wrestler Bajrang Punia has been chosen as the flag bearer of the Indian team in the closing ceremony.
This event was to be held last year but it was postponed due to the Covid-19 epidemic.
