Manika has achieved this victory after overcoming the disappointment of defeat in the mixed event. Playing with Achanta Kamal, Manika had lost in the last-16 round of mixed doubles matches on Saturday itself.

This was Batra and Kamal's first match in this Olympic event. Both of them were defeated 4-0 by the pair of Taiwan Lin Yu Tzu and Cheng Ching. The Taiwanese partners won the match 11-8, 11-6, 11-5, 11-4. The match lasted 27 minutes.
