Additional SP, STF, Triveni Singh said that one of the applicants, RP Singh, a resident of GTB Nagar Kereli, created an identical ID as that of the official ID of AU and informed all the applicants that the interviews have been cancelled. Things were brought to light when one of the applicants called the director FRC (Faculty Recruitment Cell) of AU, Prof Anupam Dikshit, asking him for the clarification on the said mail on the night of March 24. Prof Dikshit immediately informed all the applicants that the interviews would be held as per the announced schedule.

Later, university authorities lodged an FIR following which the STF started probing the case. R P Singh, the person who has been arrested in the case by STF, had passed BSc from AU and had also done his MBA from AU as well. "The involved person told us that he had created an identical ID of AU and sent the mail to all the applicants so that none would turn up for the interview and as such he would be the only applicant left for the interview and thus stands good chances of getting selected," said Triveni Singh.
