SCB Medical College's stolen babies handed over to families

So we have handed over the babies to their biological parents," said inspector in charge of Manglabag police station, Arun Swain. "I am so thankful to police for tracing out my son and arresting the culprit woman who had stolen her," said Puspa. Since then the infants were kept at SCB hospital for proper care.To ensure that the babies belong to the two couples, police had conducted DNA test of both the couples and the kids.

CUTTACK: Gudia and Pushpa's excitement and joy knew no bounds on Saturday when policemen handed them over their babies, who were stolen from SCB Medical College and hospital premises recently.Gudia was seeing her little bundle of joy after two months and could not control her emotions. "I had lost all hopes of getting reunited with my baby. He was just three days old when the woman posing as ASHA worker, had stolen my boy on January 5 from SCB hospital. Since then I was in deep trauma and was worried about his whereabouts. I was praying to the Almighty to keep him healthy and finally God has answered my prayers," said Gudia, who was beaming with a bright smile on her face." One cannot understand what I went through during these last two months," said Gudia, whose husband Katiman Mandal worked as a marble polisher in the city. The poor couple belongs to Jharkhand and was staying in Jobra area . After the incident, the couple had returned back to their village and came to Cuttack only after receiving a call from police about their son. Both the couples had lodged FIR in this regard at Manglabag police station . Acting on the complaints, police had arrested Manasi on March 11 and rescued the two babies, who were sold to childless couples at Baranga and Kafla Bazaar area by her. Since then the infants were kept at SCB hospital for proper care.To ensure that the babies belong to the two couples, police had conducted DNA test of both the couples and the kids. "The DNA test reports arrived today and it matched. So we have handed over the babies to their biological parents," said inspector in charge of Manglabag police station, Arun Swain. EOm
