Picnic turns tragic as two youths drown in Chambal

Alwar: Two youths on Sunday drowned after they fell into Chambal river in Dhoulpur's Rajakhera village.The cops were able to timely rescue two others. None of them knew swimming," the police official told TOI, adding that the body of Layak Singh was handed over to his parents after autopsy. "The divers are scanning the river to find the body of the boy who washed away. His body was found and sent for autopsy whereas the body of another victim Gajraj (25) washed away in the river and has not been recovered yet.

"The incident took place on Sunday morning when five friends came near the banks of the river for picnic to enjoy their weekend. Here, one of their friends fell into the river and washed away, others also jumped into the river to rescue one another," the police officials said.Out of five who jumped, cops were able to rescue three whereas two died in the incident."The divers are scanning the river to find the body of the boy who washed away. One of their friends had lost his balance and fell into the river, they called out for help but nobody was around to save them, hence they tried to fish out their friend by jumping into the river. None of them knew swimming," the police official told TOI, adding that the body of Layak Singh was handed over to his parents after autopsy.
