Kolhapur: In an official release of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) on March 22, the employees will have to wear Khadi uniforms once in a week.This circular was in response to a state circular which was issued on June 14 last year. All government and semi-government employees were instructed to wear Khadi clothes."We have been taking efforts to promote Khadi and Gram udyog sector. As a part of the initiative, employees and officers in central ministry of micro, small and medium scale industry as well as officials from unaided educational institutions and semi-government department have been asked to wear Khadi clothes once a week," the official release said.Assistant public relation officer, Abhjeet Bhosale said, "As per the state government circular we have instructed our employees to wear Khadi clothes. Employees have to choose their day. We don't have a provision to provide Khadi clothes to our drivers, conductors and other employees. They have to bear the costs of their respective uniforms."An MSRTC driver said, "The state brings out a circular on a daily basis. Our salaries are less than an average security guard. Despite such low salary, we have been asked to buy Khadi clothes on our expense. The corporation in not paying attention to our basic needs and forces us to spend on such baseless things."
