Many Congress leaders said, by addressing the function at Congress office, Lalu has given a strong message that he had string bonding with the grand old party and "other ally may like to go anywhere, if they wish so." "Last time, Lalu Ji visited the Sadaqat Ashram in 2000 when the Congress veteran Sitaram Kesri's body was brought here. "I told Soniaji, the UP elections is not only for UP, it is election for the entire country. The function was presided over by Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) president and education minister Ashok Choudhary. It was attended by two other ministers of Nitish government and many Congress legislators. In the past, Lalu, except his student days, visited the Sadaqat Ashram only twice or thrice.

PATNA: Shifting his loyalty towards UP CM Akhilesh Singh from 'samadhi' Mulayam Singh Yadav in the feud within the Samajwadi Party 's first family, RJD boss Lalu Prasad on Monday said Priyanka Gandhi and Akhilesh's wife Dimple Yadav has already formed an alliance for poll-bound Uttar Pradesh and the RJD and the Congress would campaign together in the neighbouring state.Addressing a function at the state Congress headquarters at Sadaqat Ashram, Lalu also revealed that he spoke to Congress president Sonia Gandhi a week ago over phone and she agreed to campaign together in UP."I told Soniaji, the UP elections is not only for UP, it is election for the entire country. The result of UP election will decide the future course of the country's politics," Lalu said amidst cheers from the Congress workers.Lalu also said the BJP - which is at the helm in the Centre - was not listening to any party's advice on any matter. "BJP is an anti-backward, anti-dalit and anti-minority organisation. After the UP elections, I will convene a larger meeting of all secular, democratic and anti-BJP forces from across the country in Patna's Gandhi Maidan and try to form a strong anti-BJP political conglomerate," he said.Lalu's alliance partner and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar (who is also the JD(U)'s national president) is likely to put his weight behind Akhilesh. The JD(U) has already formed a five-party alliance in UP with Ajit Singh's RLD, Sharad Pawar's NCP, H D Devegowda's JD(S) and R K Choudhary's BS4. "This five-party alliance is already in talks with "close persons" of Akhilesh for sharing of seats," a top JD(U) functionary told TOI on Monday. It was for the first time in Lalu's 42-year long political career that he was addressing a meeting of Congress workers and supporters at the State Congress office here. The programme was organised in the garb of a book release. "Last time, Lalu Ji visited the Sadaqat Ashram in 2000 when the Congress veteran Sitaram Kesri's body was brought here. It was entirely a different occasion. Prior to that the RJD boss visited the Congress office to participate in 'iftaar' programme," Congress senior Harkhu Jha recalls.Amidst reports of growing bonhomie between PM Narendra Modi and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, Lalu's visit to the state Congress office and his address to Congress workers is being seen as a "crafty warning" to JD(U). Many Congress leaders said, by addressing the function at Congress office, Lalu has given a strong message that he had string bonding with the grand old party and "other ally may like to go anywhere, if they wish so."
