Himachal ex-CM Dhumal accuses Congress of protecting mafias

SHIMLA: Leader of Opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal said that Himachal Pradesh , earlier known as "Devbhoomi", has become a den of mafias under the present Congress regime. He asked whether it is possible to smuggle mining material without the patronage of state government.He said under the government's patronage, liquor mafia, drug mafia, land mafia, forest mafia, mining mafia and transfer mafia are having free hands. the BJP would pay four times compensation for land acquisition. He said Bilaspur has become like a den for the mafias.

SHIMLA: Leader of Opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal said that Himachal Pradesh , earlier known as "Devbhoomi", has become a den of mafias under the present Congress regime. He said this while addressing a public rally during the launch of "Mafia Hatao, Pradesh Bachao" campaign from Bilaspur.The former chief minister said due to lackadaisical attitude of the state government, youth of Himachal Pradesh are falling prey to drugs. He said mining material is not available for people of state but by supplying mining material to border areas of neighbouring states those close to ruling side are minting money. He asked whether it is possible to smuggle mining material without the patronage of state government.He said under the government's patronage, liquor mafia, drug mafia, land mafia, forest mafia, mining mafia and transfer mafia are having free hands. He said Bilaspur has become like a den for the mafias. He said it is matter of shame for the state government that drugs seized in Punjab was manufactured in Himachal Pradesh.Dhumal said in the area of forest minister 1800 trees were axed and it is the result of political patronage of ruling side that real culprits are still out of jail. He said even in the area of chief minister, 480 trees were felled.He alleged that new excise policy is causing a huge loss to state exchequer and policy had deliberately been framed in such a manner as to benefit one individual. He said in 2012 assembly election, the Congress party made a false promise of giving unemployment allowance to educated youth but for the last four years, not even a single youth of state was given this allowance.He said the financial mismanagement by Congress government and a battery of chairmen and vice-chairmen in different boards and corporations has thrown the state into debt trap. He said farmers whose land is being acquired for different projects are not being adequate compensation forcing them to launch struggle to get their legitimate right.Dhumal said that state government is giving two times compensation for land compensation and on coming to power. the BJP would pay four times compensation for land acquisition.
