City Police Commissioner D. Gautam Sawang on Saturday stressed the need to conserve petroleum products in view of dependency on imports, depletion of natural resources and the impact on the environment. State-level coordinator of oil industry Uma Shankar GKKV thanked the Commissioner for extending the department’s support to the programme. He administered a pledge on fuel conservation and appended his signature on a ‘Signature Wall’. He was addressing a gathering as part of an awareness programme, organised by oil companies such as the HPCL, IOC, BPC and the GAIL, in association with the Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) to mark Bicycle Day in the city. The Commissioner then flagged off a cycle rally that drew participation of the AP Special Protection Force staff, schoolchildren, officials and dealers of oil companies.
