DMK patriarch and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M Karunanidhi is no more. The politician passed away died in Kauvery Hospital here at 6.10pm on Tuesday. He was 94 yr old.

He was one celebrated screenplay writers of his time and his films always had a purpose to convey a special message. And not just the critical acclaim but many of his films won commercial success as well.

Karunanidhi had tasted success with films like Rajakumari (1947) and Manthiri Kumari (1950).

And then came 'Parasakthi' which became one of the most influential films of Tamil cinema's early history. It turned out to be the biggest milestone in Tamil cinema. It broke many traditions that were in existence. Indian films used to have numerous songs, but Parasakthi brought down the numbers. Instead of songs, the film was high on politics-influenced dialogues.

Karunanidhi turned a lot of heads with his bold dialogues that reflected atheism and questioned Brahminism.

The legend will always be remembered for the immense contribution to Tamil Cinema.
