On April 6, Kunal Kamra tweeted from his official Twitter account, "My parents are Covid positive, and they're in a hospital nearby. I'm Covid positive quarantined at home. I've spoken to everyone who I was in contact with. Me and my family will be fine soon. Please take the second wave very seriously and be super careful (sic)."

Kunal Kamra's announcement comes amid the news of several Bollywood celebrities also testing positive for Covid-19. 

Bollywood stars like Akshay Kumar, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Alia Bhatt, Aamir Khan, R Madhavan and more announced that they have tested Covid-positive and were taking necessary precautions.

For the first time since the coronavirus pandemic began in India, the country registered more than 1 lakh cases in a single day.
