After a delay due to the coronavirus pandemic, Hyundai has finally launched the facelifted Hyundai Tucson in India with prices starting from Rs 22.30 lakh (ex-showroom). Offered in two variants: GL (O) and GLS, it gets a minor design revamp, revised interiors, additional equipment as well as BS6-compliant petrol and diesel engines.
The new Hyundai Tucson comes with an updated front fascia. There is a new cascading chrome grille with LED headlamps having DRLs on either side. There are LED tail lamps at the rear. The front and rear bumpers have been redesigned. The side profile is more or less the same. However, the new 18-inch alloy wheels look sporty. Besides, features like roof rails and rear spoiler add to the overall boldness of the SUV. The 2020 Hyundai Tucson`s cabin looks quite premium now. The first change you will notice is the new dashboard. The centre console has been tweaked as well. The touchscreen infotainment system, (8-inch touchscreen), instrument panel and multi-function steering wheel are new. There are features like ventilated front seats, wireless charging, electrically operated tailgate and panoramic sunroof to add to the premium quotient.
The Hyundai Tucson facelift is expected to get a couple of BS6-compliant powertrain choices -- 2.0-litre petrol (152PS and 192Nm of torque) and 2.0-litre diesel (185PS and 400Nm of torque). Apart from a standard 6-speed MT with both the engines, there might be a 6-speed AT with the Tucson petrol and an 8-speed AT with the Tucson diesel.
The above table reveals that the L and GL variants have been axed from the Tucson’s lineup with the GLS now available in a 2WD option. Petrol variants are now cheaper by Rs 16,000(GLO) and Rs 21,000 (GLS), whereas the diesel variants are pricier by Rs 6,000 (GL (O) and Rs 12,000 (GLS 4WD) respectively.
