Maruti Suzuki set to increase production in 2020

Summary:

Maruti Suzuki is set to manufacture more vehicles than a year earlier in August, the first year-on-year growth in 2020 for the country’s top carmaker, as component supplies normalise and the market witnesses a strong demand recovery.

Maruti Suzuki is likely to post a 6-10% increase in production, both from the previous month and a year earlier, to about 120,000-125,000 units in August, according to several people in the know. They expect output to top 150,000-160,000 units in the peak festival months of September and October.

To be sure, this growth will be on the back of a low base in 2019, after a massive stock build up in the festive season of 2018 which had continued right through to the first half of 2019.
