Summary:

Mountain Lake, located in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia, is now filled up with water after a gap of 12 years. This astonishing phenomenon is a process of self-cleaning that it is known to do. The lake was popularized in the classic 1980s movie Dirty Dancing. Mountain Lake is really one of its kind, and now it is back being its former self after 12 long years.

According to experts, the lake self cleans by pushing sediment that is in the bottom of the lake through a plumbing system. This makes the lake bigger and deeper, and helps to keep it clean.

The lake in fact goes completely dry every 400 years, but returns to its natural state in an astonishing natural cycle. The movie Dirty Dancing was shot in 1987 here, and the water level has dropped and come back up a couple of times since then. The lake remained mostly dry between 2008 to 2012.
