After shutting shops from March 22 due the lockdown, the hotel industry in Kullu-Manali is again gearing up to open for tourists from October 1. Apparently, several people working in Kullu-Manali’s hospitality sector have been left unemployed due to the lockdown.

Anup Thakur, President, Hoteliers Association of Kullu-Manali, confirmed the reopening date to the press. He also said that a campaign will be launched to educate other stakeholders such as taxi operators, dhaba owners and adventure service providers who give traditional dresses to tourists. They will be sensitised on running their business safely in the midst of the ongoing pandemic.

Reportedly, a general meeting of the Hoteliers Association Kullu-Manali was held recently to discuss reopening of hotels at the popular tourist destination across Himachal Pradesh. It was during the meeting that the decision was taken to reopen Kullu-Manali’s hotel sector from October 1.

News has it that the hoteliers association has asked the state government to make the required arrangements to make every tourist feel safe as the arrival of tourists is expected to rise soon after the announcement of this decision.
