Summary:

New Delhi: The Renault Kiger will make its world premiere on January 28. Based on the same CMFA+ platform that underpins the Renault Triber, the upcoming sub-4metre compact SUV is expected to be launched in India in the first quarter of 2021. The Renault Kiger will be first introduced in India, followed by other global markets.

The spy images of the upcoming Kiger have already revealed that it will get twin-level lighting, with the LED headlamps located on the bumper and the LED DRLs placed above them. The rear will have double C-shaped LED taillights and roof-integrated spoiler. Also available will be features like roof rails and diamond-cut alloy wheels. The sub-4metre compact SUV will have a ground clearance of 210mm. While not much is known about the interiors of the Kiger, the cabin is expected to be loaded with creature comforts like automatic AC, touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument panel and multi-function steering wheel.

Like the Renault Duster and the Nissan Kicks, we are expecting the Renault Kiger and the Nissan Magnite to share the powertrains. The recently-launched Magnite offers a couple of engine options -- 1.0-litre B4D petrol (72PS and 96Nm) with a sole 5-speed MT and 1.0-litre HRA0 turbo-petrol (100PS and 160Nm/152Nm) with 5-speed MT/CVT automatic. The upcoming Renault Kiger might be introduced in the price range of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). Following its launch in India, it will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Ford EcoSport and Nissan Magnite.

Renault`s product portfolio in India currently includes the Kwid, Triber and Duster. The Renault Kwid is priced between Rs 2,99,800 and Rs 5,12,700 (ex-showroom, Delhi), while the Renault Triber is available in the price range of Rs 5,12,000 to Rs 7,34,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Renault Duster price ranges from Rs 9,39,000 to 13,59,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
